Attorney Cody A. Dishon Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Seeking Answers After Worker’s Death at Louisiana LNG Facility
The family of Juan Jesus Martinez Mendoza has filed a wrongful death lawsuit following his tragic death after he fell approximately 50 feet while working at an LNG facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
The family retained attorney Cody A. Dishon, an ownership partner with The Ferguson Law Firm, to protect their rights and conduct an independent investigation into what caused the fatal incident.
Media reports indicate that Juan initially survived the fall and was transported to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, where he later died from the injuries he sustained.
Dishon said the family contacted him because they have not received a straightforward explanation of exactly what happened or why Juan suffered the fatal fall.
"A worker should never fall 50 feet on a jobsite. It should never happen, plain and simple." Dishon said. "That is especially true at a facility operated by companies that publicly profess to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of their workers. When something like this happens, families deserve immediate, honest answers—not silence."
According to the lawsuit, the family seeks to protect its legal rights while conducting an independent investigation to determine whether preventable safety failures contributed to Juan's death.
“No family should have to wonder why their loved one lost his life at work,” Dishon said. “Every family deserves to know what happened and why. The civil justice system exists to preserve evidence, obtain documents, question witnesses under oath, and uncover the truth when those answers are not provided.”
The lawsuit alleges that the defendants failed to maintain a reasonably safe workplace and failed to provide appropriate fall protection, scaffold safety, inspections, supervision, and other required safety measures.
